Also in the General settings page, you can edit the site name and tagline (first set when you were installing WordPress) of your blog. It is also an important set up which will show default on search engines while searching your website/blog. Do not think too much about it. Just fill it with your main keyword and write tagline by splitting the niche topic into two three words.
You can also change the email address given in the installing process into another one. Because the admin related mails and notifications are come to the entered email address only. So, keep it with currently using email and will help to respond to users comments and messages immediately, resulting better growth of blog.

WP Media Settings
The media or image upload is controlled according to media settings as you set up in it. By default WordPress is creating three types images sizes such as thumbnail, medium and large size. When you upload a new image it will add to media library and automatically converted in to these three sizes. That means, for single image it will create three images of different size.To stop this, go to Settings -> Media, section and follow the below screenshot:
Also “disable the year based image upload” option, if you decide to add DMCA watermark to your images for protecting it from copying others. Note: It will stop the multiple image size generation and affect themes having automatic featured image set up.
Set up WordPress Permalinks
By default WordPress settings for permalinks is like this: http://your-blog-domain.com/?p=123.
It is not search engine friendly, because your WordPress permalink doesn’t include the post topic keywords. When coming to stage of search engine optimization (SEO), it is drawback and you should make it search engine friendly to get in first page of Google, bing, Yahoo and others search engines.
For that, go to settings -> permalinks.
Select “Post Name” and click on save.
Your blog permalink will look like this: “http://your-blog-doimain.com/sample-post”
You can also check it on search engine to ensure the blog snippet is correctly showing the permalink structure as you set up earlier.
Search Engine Visibility
Go to Settings -> Reading.
Ensure that you DISABLED the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”. If it is enabled, wordpress settings will automatically set to Robot.txt to disable the search engine indexing of your blog content. Due to this, search engine cannot be able to find your blog. So make sure that you disabled it as seen like in the below screenshot:
Also set “article feed show” to “summary” option as seen in the above screenshot. It will prevent the automatic blogging softwares from copying your full content by using your blogs RSS feed.
